Hi everyone!

I've revised my ideal makeup inventory numbers and I'm posting this video to help keep myself accountable. I tried to think through what I would use regularly and/or what I could realistically use up in any given year. This is a very long winded (and to be quite honest, boring) video, but I wanted to give some more details about how I got to these numbers because my initial set of ideal numbers were based on “intuition” (i.e., there was no rationale for any of them). My goal is to reach my ideal numbers by Sep 14/18 (last day of my 101 in 1001), but I hope to get most of the way there this year. I’m not promising that the numbers won’t change as it’s a work in progress, but regardless, I will be making some sweeping changes to my collection. Some notes on how I will be treating the different types of categories:

Categories like beautyblender, lip balms, and (unopened) lip gloss: I will not be decluttering these but I will try to use up what I have until I reach my ideal numbers - this might take longer than a year.

Categories like face primer and foundation/BB cream: I only want to stock what I can use up in a year and I will be purchasing during sales (e.g., Sephora VIB sale, etc.).

Categories like mascara and lip gloss: I will use only use one mascara and one lip gloss at any given time - I will toss them after 3-6 months regardless of whether or not they are finished.

Categories like lipstick and nail polish: I will not be replacing these products every year so I tried to think about what colours I tend to gravitate towards. These will be replaced when they go off or dry up.

I basically won’t be buying anything in any given category unless I am below my ideal number in that category. I had to cut off some of the notes so you could see the numbers clearly in the video... if you are interested in all the notes, I put a full screenshot in my Dropbox:
