Noah Hawley’s Alien prequel series dives headfirst into practical horror, bringing the Xenomorph back to life in a way we haven’t seen since 1979.

Working with Wētā Workshop, the production team designed fully animatronic versions of the Xenomorph and facehuggers, complete with drool systems, jaw mechanics, and wirework for acrobatic stunts. But it doesn’t stop there—Alien: Earth introduces entirely new creatures, exploring multiple phases of the alien lifecycle and re-mystifying the franchise’s sense of dread.

Production designer Andy Nicholson recreated a “proto-Nostromo” ship with painstaking detail, while filming in Thailand gave the series its futuristic landscapes. Behind it all is Wendy, a Ripley-Newt hybrid protagonist played by Sydney Chandler, whose raw humanity grounds the spectacle.
