New law 'excludes and controls' Cambodia's NGOs

Cambodia's National Assembly is set to pass controversial legislation that critics say would limit the actions of NGOs in the country.

After the genocidal era of the Khmer Rouge, NGOs have been vital in re-building Cambodia. But with so many organizations now operating, the government wants to clamp down on so-called rogue operators.

Opposition parties suspect Cambodia’s long-serving Prime Minister, Hun Sen, of trying to stifle dissent.
