The First Black Woman On The Cover of Ebony Magazine: Hilda Simms

Описание к видео The First Black Woman On The Cover of Ebony Magazine: Hilda Simms

Hilda Moses (professional name Simms) was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on April 15, 1918 – February 6, 1994. Miss Simms was a stage actress, best known for her starring role on Broadway in New York in Anna Lucasta,. She was also a radio personality, model and philanthropist. She was the FIRST BLACK WOMAN (although the argument will now be made that she is Creole) to grace the cover of Ebony Magazine. The Year was 1945.
I think Miss Hilda Simms looks like me. But, I also think I favor Dona Drake and Dorothy Dandridge and supermodel Kirby Griffin (wink)....
The last photo was taken by renown photographer Gordon Parks. Other photos are courtesy of Getty Images, Ebony Magazine and Wiki. Thank you for the use. ~~Shannon
