Superman is written and directed by James Gunn, starring David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult. This superhero epic is like watching a comic book come to life. It’s fun, colorful, hopeful, romantic, fun, thoughtful and creative. The bad guys are bad, the good guys are good, but they both have great motivations. The script is incredible, it is lean while also feeling packed. It’s funny, but not cringey joke funny, the humor comes from the characters and their interactions. Every character is likable. It doesn’t shy away from weird comic book stuff, and it treats all of those elements with respect. This is an all timer, a return to form while feeling fresh. The future of the DCU is bright! It’s also overperforming at the box office, it has made $217m world wide on a $225m budget. If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and see this on the big screen.
