Hey there, neighbors. Kevin here with etrailer and today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Westin EXP truck topper here on our 2025 Ford Maverick. So our neighbor owns a pest control service and he came to us today with his Maverick so that he could get a truck topper added on because he needs to house all of his chemicals and all of his tools. And he doesn't wanna have to take them out of his truck every single day so he needs something that's gonna be not only tall so that he can fit all those items in the back of the truck, but also something that he can lock and make sure that no one else can get into. Now the Westin truck topper gives us three different doors that we can use to access our stuff. So just right here on the side, if we turn our handle, we have easy access inside of our bed.

So maybe he has a tool bucket or maybe a couple of chemicals. Maybe he's got a spray can or something he needs to grab out of here. He can easily get to it, close back up his door. Here's a little lock right here. He can get that locked back up and be out finishing up the job without having to worry about somebody coming by and getting into his truck and stealing anything.

Now each one of our locks is going to have a key. They gave us three in a little baggie here and luckily they tell us our lock code number as well. So if you ever lost your keys, you could easily reach out to Westin and get a replacement set. But this key's gonna be pretty simple. It will stay in the same position.

So right now, I just locked it. We'll turn it to the right to lock it. Turn it counterclockwise to open it back up, and we're all good to go. So the side panels are going to be that hard aluminum and composite mix, but when it comes to the back window and the front window, it is actually going to be glass so that way you can still see through it. And it's also gonna have that same latch style with the lock built into the center.

The other benefit here is that this is also gonna come with that third brake light, so you are still remaining street legal. Now when it comes to our door openings here, the rear one is gonna be a little bit bigger than our side ones. You can kind of see this is closer to a foot, whereas that's a little bit closer to about six to eight inches maybe. Probably a little bit less than that. So like I said, you can kind of easily get in from the sides and grab smaller items. But if you have something bulkier, you would have to kind of drag it up to the front here. You could probably get a pump sprayer out of this opening here with just our truck topper door. But for the most part, you probably are still gonna have to pull down your tailgate so that way you can get those bigger items in and out of your truck. Now with this truck topper, it is going to have a bunch of gaskets. You see all along it, the entire bottom of this has a gasket by sitting up against our bed rail and our tailgate and then our bulkhead. And on the bulkhead, you are gonna be putting on an extra foam piece along the entire length of the bulkhead so that way you make sure that you're getting that nice and even. And there's even a couple of little gasket pieces that are gonna sit in because there is a little gutter in the trim on the bed rails that you're gonna have to sit down in. And then once you put clamps on and you clamp this down nice and tight, you're now gonna prevent any water or dust from accidentally getting in there as you're driving down the road and then getting your stuff all wet or dirty. Now one of the biggest benefits of this truck topper, aside from it giving you that extra space and security, is that this one also comes with some T-slot rails on top of the roof. So that way we can add in a cargo carrier, some other kind of rack so that we can haul even more equipment. Maybe we wanna throw some ladders up on here. We'll throw some crossbars. And if we're done with work and it's time to actually enjoy our time, then we can easily throw on a rooftop tent. Maybe you get those crossbar back up there and throw on some kayaks and easily take out all of the stuff that we need to when we're going out on our adventures.
