This was a crazy fast trip out to the black hills to meet up with 2 friends that were meeting me from SD, and I was taking out a first-time turkey hunter who is an amazing videographer and photographer. Ross's very first bird happened so fast that I couldn't get the camera out. We had been chasing two gobbles in the dark and when we set up, we had instant replies. We moved to where we thought they were going and set up again. They replied from where we set up the first time and I could tell they were running to where we had just set. I told Ross to get ready and that is all we could say when the birds popped out right on top of us in full strut. Ross made a great shot and the other bird flew off into the Black Hills pines surrounding us. It was about as perfect as a first bird could be. Wish I could have gotten more on film.
We hunted hard for two more days and I was finally able to tag out my bird. Ross put this amazing short together for me and I am sharing it with you now.
A big shout out to Devos Outdoors! We had a couple of their lights and a gun rack with us on this trip and I absolutely LOVE them. I have used them now for going on 1 year and they are amazing. They are light enough I can pack them to kill sights of big game so we can butcher without headlamps. We used them for camp and grill lights.
