The 8th-ranked Syracuse Orangemen defeated the 13th-ranked Georgetown Hoyas 70-63 at the Carrier Dome. The Orangemen led by 15 at the break as the Hoyas committed 15 turnovers in the opening half. The Hoyas managed to make the game competitive in the second half, getting as close as down four points with less than a minute left, but Syracuse was able to close it out.

Syracuse was led by Preston Shumpert (23 pts), Damone Brown (23 pts, 12 rbs) and DeShaun Williams with 14 pts. Georgetown was led by Kevin Braswell (23 pts), Mike Sweetney (14 pts, 13 rbs) and Demetrius Hunter (12 pts).
