Mr. French is a leading political commentator who is the senior editor at The Dispatch and a New York Times best-selling author. He is also Duke's 2022 Egan Visiting Professor at the Sanford School of Public Policy and the School of Arts and Sciences.

The discussion was moderated by Professor Joseph Blocher, a Second Amendment scholar and faculty co-director of the Duke Center for Firearms Law. Welcome and opening remarks were made by Professor Marin K. Levy, the faculty director of Horvitz Program in Constitutional & Public Law. Levy is an elected member of the American Law Institute, as well.
