While the CLA Series is focused on the Rock sound, the Maserati Series on the Pop sound, #JackJosephPuig comes from the #Gospel world so his series will sound pristine and crystal clear.

When we activate the plugin obviously we will notice a volume imbalance, ignore this for the moment until we find the MODE that best suits the style of our keyboards. We could use MASTER to lower the volume but it would be reset when we change to the next mode, let's see.

Of the four available MODES, two are for STRINGS so we are going to discard them. Between SYNTH and PIANO it seems to us that PIANO is the most transparent... Once the MODE has been decided, the first step is to adjust SENS. Let's start by decreasing MASTER to take care of our ears. In PIANO mode, SENS shows much more headroom, this is clearly to avoid distortion. As we can see even with SENS to the maximum the LED rarely reaches the yellow color. The next step is to adjust MASTER to Unity Gain, do not worry much because the following controls will influence the volume.

To better understand the following controls we are going to turn them off all.

LOWS, HIGHS and COMP allow to shape the signal that enters the plugin. LOWS and HIGHS are nothing more than a two-band EQ similar to what JJP would use on his console. COMP acts probably like channel compressor too.

The following controls affect the signal in PARALLEL.

SPACE is a reverb that sounds to us like a high quality digital unit, something like Lexicon or the Softube TSAR-1 we like for keyboards. Although this is parallel, the fader has enough power to bathe your tracks with effect and send them to the back of the theater.

The Signature Series are also a possibility to understand which processes are used by the engineers who created them. DOUBLER is something that is repeated in all of them, everyone uses a doubler in parallel! As expected, in this case the doubler is used to give body to the instruments although it also imparts a certain stereo projection.

PRSNCE is a presence control, could be a 5kHz EQ, an Aural Exciter or something else. Any process that Jack has used we do not know. What we know is this control does to your track the same a tailored suit does to your body.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you see the word GIRTH? Well, that is what this control does to the instruments. Suffice it to say that this fader is capable of turning the skinniest of the tracks into a happy beauty.

Now it is time to place MASTER at Unity Gain and check if what we did was worth it.

Now that we know the technique, let's put our tracks in context and #mix... As you will have realized nothing of what we did in isolation sounds good in context, that's why we now have to change everything... Once you realize this, you will never mix a track in isolation because it is wasting time. This is also the easiest way to realize that any tool is potentially capable of delivering great results. Once you have realized the latter you will probably start to select your tools because of their ease of use rather than their "sound". Multi-tools have been greatly undervalued.
