LIVE: Georgia school shooting suspect appears in court

The father of a teenager who used a semi-automatic rifle to carry out a deadly school shooting has been charged with murder after telling the FBI that he gave the boy the weapon as a Christmas present.

Colin Gray, 54, gifted the AR-15-style firearm to his son, Colt, seven months after federal agents questioned the 14-year-old about online threats to shoot up a school.

At the time, Gray — who owned guns for hunting — assured the FBI his son did not have unsupervised access to any weapons. Seven months later, in December 2023, he gave him one. On Wednesday, the teenager used it to gun down 13 students and teachers at his school in Winder, Georgia. Four were killed.
