In Rygar for the NES, there's a somewhat simple glitch you can exploit to essentially skip from the first boss to the very final boss of the game.

Play through the game like normal until you make it to Eruga, who is typically the first boss you encounter. In Eruga's room, you need to get damaged and KO'd by his fireballs while you are at the rightmost edge of the screen toward the bottom. It's hard to time, but if you can fall off the right side of the platform and get KO'd by a fireball just at the rightmost edge of the screen, you will get knocked into a glitched area just before the Game Over text appears.

When you continue, you will suddenly be warped to another boss room entirely. This time, you will be in the arena against Belzar. Here, you will need to do a very similar trick, but it's much easier this time. Now, stand as close to the right edge of the screen as you can - your character should be standing almost in front of the door. Now wait until the monster's fireballs knock you ded through the right wall. Again, the screen will look glitchy and weird, and the Game Over text will appear. If you continue again, you will be warped directly in front of the final boss room.

By the way, the final boss is named Ligar which is close to the game's title?

Anyway once you're in front of the final boss room, you can doo a kind-of-tricky jump onto the wall on the lower right, then travel two screens to the right. Here, you can walk on the sloped section of the wall and make your way to the bottom of the room. While still standing on the walls. you can get some shadow spider monster things to spawn and you can safely farm them from on top of the wall. Once you're high enough level, you can go back and fight the final boss and beat Rygar on the NES.
