Over the coming years, I plan to immerse myself in the exploration and study of the eight core trigrams, or Bagua, foundational elements of Chinese philosophy and thought. These trigrams, each representing profound aspects of existence, form the symbolic structure of the Yijing (I Ching) and have served as a lens for understanding the interplay between nature, humanity, and the cosmos.

My aim is to delve deeply into their meanings, their resonances across cultures, and their implications for how we understand ourselves and the world around us.

This endeavour will culminate in 64 utterances—64 pieces of thought or meditative reflections—on each trigram, following their dynamic relationships and transformations. In this video, I present the first eight utterances on the trigram of Heaven (Qian), following the Fuxi early heaven sequence, a timeless arrangement that speaks to the primordial forces shaping all existence. This video is the first of 8 on Heaven.

Every morning, we climb a Sisyphean path toward heaven on earth, where striving itself becomes the act of harmonising with cosmic rhythms of yin and yang.

5. HEAVEN WITHIN
Traherne’s vision of heaven as inner purity parallels modern therapy’s quest to heal the “inner child,” restoring wonder and joy tarnished by life’s burdens.

6. HEAVEN AS THE FANTASY OF LOVE FULFILLED
Heaven offers the ultimate emotional balm: a fantasy of perfect reconciliation, abundant love, and the erasure of all earthly heartbreaks.

7. HEAVENLY ATTACHMENTS
Heaven promises to transform earthly attachments into universal, ego-free love, where relationships shift from exclusivity to infinite, cosmic inclusivity.

8. AI HEAVEN
AI teases a technological heaven but cannot resolve our deeper existential dread, leaving us yearning for meaningful interaction and sacred reciprocity over passive consumption.
