Mario Strikers Charged Online via Wiimmfi!

Описание к видео Mario Strikers Charged Online via Wiimmfi!

Wiimmfi on this game is now working properly again. To use the leaderboards and friend rooms, make sure to disable the old Gamestats skip code, or use the most recent real disc patcher (v0.5).

Playing some online matches of Mario Strikers Charged (Mario Strikers Charged Football to us Europeans) via the custom server, Wiimmfi. Uploading this video to hopefully drive a bit more traffic to the game, as it is quite an addictive and fun title, and Wiimmfi now has support for it as of 2 months or so ago! In all matches, I play as Luigi and his sidekicks.

Tutorial on how to get onto the Wiimmfi custom server and play Wii games online after WFC shutdown:    • How to play Wii games online after WF...

All listed methods in that video should work for getting online on Mario Strikers.

Special thanks to Ciapa for getting this particular game working, as before it was not running successfully at all.

With games like this, there are often not many people playing online, and as such, it helps to have a method to tell if they are. You can use this page: http://wiimmfi.de/game/mschargedwii to determine if anyone is online. If nobody is online, you will only see the long list of games that Wiimmfi supports. However, if there are people on, they will be listed above the long list of games, along with what they're doing and which region they're on (you must have the same region to play matches in Mario Strikers, unfortunately. R4QP is PAL (Europe/Australia) and R4QE is NTSC-U (America). The region the player is using is displayed in the leftmost column). The Status field indicates what a person is doing right now (0 = Offline/Error/Idling, 1 = Sitting around on the menu doing nothing, 2 = Playing a game, 3 = Searching for players). The name of the player is also listed, so you can see exactly who is online.

A good strategy for finding games is to go online even if nobody else is there and just wait a bit, as anyone monitoring that page might deliberately start their game to join you (I have done this before if I've seen people on their own and searching).

As for these matches, I deliberately hosted a live stream of this game to attract some players, which worked wonderfully. Everyone was slightly rusty at the game, hence some dubious plays at times (and I was never amazing at the game to begin with, but hey). My opponents were randomnicknamepassingby in the first 2 matches, and a player called "Night" in the final 3. I usually would never upload a match against someone who abuses trick goals (see the final 3 matches), but it turned out better than I thought, so here they are. They were fun games!

As for the people who have never seen this game before and wondering what it's like, you may as well get a preowned copy, as they're super cheap (I picked one up for £3 recently, as my previous disc was damaged). The online play is smooth and fast-paced. You can even see the quality of the connection to your opponent (your ping rendered as stars, effectively), before a match begins to determine how much lag there will be, and even reject the connections of laggy players before the game even begins. It was the first Wii WFC title in Europe, and they did a lovely job on it in my opinion. (America got Pokémon Battle Revolution first, for the curious).

There's a slight possibility that the leaderboards may be made to work on Wiimmfi at a later date, but that really depends on the popularity of the game, I reckon. Even so, it's fun to play even without them!

And that's it for this video! I hope you enjoy. For those wondering about Mario Kart 8 stuff, it'll be on the way again soon, worry not :P
Thanks for watching and reading!

Wiimmfi is created by Wiimm and Leseratte. The custom gamestats server was developed by Ciapa. Credit to all of them for a great job!
