जामिया मिल्लिया यूनिवर्सिटी में कुछ छात्रों के द्वारा दिवाली मनाने का विरोध करने से बवाल खड़ा हो गया है। खबर है कि मंगलवार शाम को जामिया मिल्लिया यूनिवर्सिटी के कुछ छात्र विश्वविद्यालय परिसर में ही दिवाली मना रहे थे। जामिया दीपोत्सव 2024 नाम के इस कार्यक्रम में रंगोली और दीपोत्सव का कार्यक्रम रखा गया था। लेकिन जब छात्र दिवाली मना रहे थे, उसी समय बाहर से आए कुछ लोगों ने छात्रों के दिवाली मनाने का विरोध किया। आरोप है कि बाहर से आए लोगों ने गाड़ी चढ़ाकर दिवाली के दिए तोड़ दिए और रंगोली को खराब कर दिया। कुछ छात्रों की पिटाई भी किए जाने का मामला सामने आया है। आरोप है कि इस दौरान कुछ लोग 'फलिस्तीन जिंदाबाद' के नारे भी लगा रहे थे।
