Sometimes you reach inside the void for a weird DOS game but you do not pull out a weird DOS game; you pull out that void.

Developed in 1997 by Hamster Republic, the game is an attempt at something you can call a 1D experience. Clearly, the game is 2D but I suppose it is the joke that counts.
Now, Hamster Republic was not exactly the most obscure name back then. They created a bunch of simple games of various genres always featuring the mascot: Bob the Hamster. There is some chance a person saw the hamster used on some website as "clipart" or inside a happily written virus Word file... The guys also developed a simple MS-DOS game maker called the uh... Official Hamster Republic Role Playing Game Construction Engine.

I would say the point and gameplay of Lineality is entirely clear and does not need to be explained that much. It is a shooter taking place on a line and you can play in three modes: Width, Height and Depth. With Depth being, well, as much fun as it can possibly be unless you turn on some of the other options that rotate or otherwise adjust the line's position and behavior.
Other than that, you shoot at purple blocks trying to "kill the yellow one". They randomly drop health, rapid shots or piercing shots and damage you by bumping into you.
