Established in 1918, the college has been the alma mater of many famous personalities such as Prof Roddam Narasimha, Wg Cmdr H G Dattatreya, Mano Murthy, Prakash Belawadi, Ramesh Aravind, Aravind Bhat and many more. It was the first Engineering college of Karnataka and fifth Engineering college of India.
