NOTE: Apologies for shakiness in first half of vid, second half is better as cam was tripod mounted.

UPDATE 9/9/15: Been getting a lot of q's about whether XYZ brand's PSU will fit so please note:
any replacement PSU must have 1 x 24 or 1 x 20+4 pin ATX cable & 1 x 4 pin or 1 x 4 +4 pin EPS cable (and of course the requisite PCIe & SATA cables you need)
factory PSU dimensions: 140mm (D) x 86mm (H) x 150mm (W)
EVGA 750's is: 180mm (D) x 85mm (H) x 150mm (W)
while you have room for a slightly taller (H) or Wider (W) PSU but NOT longer (L/D). Of course this will depend on what kind of CPU cooler or other equipment you may have crammed in your XPS8700

UPDATE 7/14/15: Just realized I never did post a link to the efficiency ratings, here is an excellent simple to understand write-up on it: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/thr...

A walk-thru of PSU upgrade (using EVGA's SuperNOVA 750 G1) on my Dell XPS 8700 as I wanted to install an HD 6970 for faster rendering speeds. I also wanted to future-proof on my next build which will be custom thus went with a higher wattage PSU.

I'll get to the Vegas Pro 12 benchmarks in a future vid but I am VERY impressed with the performance of the HD 6970 card thus far!
