In the late 2100's, the world has become increasingly artificial. Massive corporations run the economy while the governments of the old world stand idly by, left behind by a people that have outgrown them. In America, crime and cyber-terrorism run rampant as old-world ideology meshes with modern technology. Cyborg mercenaries give government forces a run for their money in conflict zones around the world. It’s easier than ever to make your money the dirty way.

American Cyberpunk follows two federal police, Rachel Kessler and Kazuo Oshii, as they struggle to protect the innocent in a dying cyberized America.

In this episode, Kessler and Oshii respond to a homicide in lower Sector Bravo 893. The mutilated victim has succumb to exposure after getting locked inside of a virtual reality server. The circumstances of his death bear similarities to a larger case they are investigating. As it turns out, what they find inside his head might be deadlier than the killer they’re chasing.

Based on movies like Ghost in the Shell and Blade Runner, American Cyberpunk is my take on the cyberpunk aesthetic. Set in a futuristic United States, AMCYB takes a rough look at the irreverence of advancing technology, the transcendence of humanity beyond race and gender and the physical form, and the brutality of a desensitized society all wrapped up in a story about cyborg cops and gunfights.
