Episode 20: The Nuremberg Chronicle

Greetings, folks! On this episode of Bookworm History we talk about the history of the Liber Chronicarum, more commonly known as the Nuremberg Chronicle. Printed in Nuremberg in 1493, this world history is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful books ever printed owing to its copious and intricate illustrations.

You can find a wonderful hand-colored scan of the Chronicle at the University of Cambridge’s website: http://cudl.lib.cam.ac.uk/view/PR-INC...

For more on the Chronicle’s history check out “The Making of the Nuremberg Chronicle” by Adrian Wilson. It’s out of print, but copies can still be found floating around the internet.
