This is a preview that samples selections from “Music Video,” one of 7 featured program categories from the inaugural Supernova Digital Animation Festival, which debuted in Denver, Colorado in September 2016. Six of the seven featured programs were presented with sound to the public on the 14th and Champa LED on the corner of the Denver Convention Center, with the focal competition presented on a temporary LED screen positioned in the Denver Performing Arts Complex Galleria with seating for the public. This single evening event became a template that would grow and evolve over the following six years into one of the most distinguished public events in the world, all in support of the growing, dynamic niche of digital motion art, animation and new medium, the only festival in the world to host content in such a manner. The Music Video category was a natural for Supernova, a program that would become a staple across the entire tenure of the festival. There was nothing more satisfying than showing incredible animations to the public with sound that amp the natural collaboration between artists and musicians that make the genre so special. In this context, there was always more than enough quality works to choose from, and such a pleasure to present. The selections for the program were both curated through advanced research or selected from the festival's annual submission portal through Film Freeway. This and all program previews were composed and edited by Ivar Zeile, founder and creative director for the project for seven years.
