The movie Laawaris (1999) is a story about an advocate Anand Saxena who lives in a small apartment with his wife, Kavita, who came from a wealthy family and their young son.

Living in a crime-prone area, the family is mocked, made fun of, motor cycle got burned. They live in a crime-prone area as Anand cannot afford to live in a better locality, due to his honesty and integrity. Almost daily they are mocked at, made fun of, and even have their motor-cycle burned at the hands of the goonda elements, led by Captain Dada.

The movie stars Jackie Shroff, Dimple Kapadia, Manisha Koirala, Akshaye Khanna and Johnny Lever.

Manisha Koirala is best known for amazing performances in films like ‘1942: A Love Story’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Akele Hum Akele Tum’ and ‘Khamoshi'.
