Makes 10
1.5 cups black chickpea/kala chana (soaked overnight)
1 inch ginger, thinly sliced
Salt to taste
Water as required
1/4 cup curd
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 green chilli, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 cup coriander leaves
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp jeera powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 tsp chaat masala
1/4 tsp elaichi powder
1-2 tosp ghee
Boil the overnight soaked kala chana in a pressure cooker with ginger, salt & water for about 5-6 whistles. Once it's cooked, transfer it in a mixer with dahi and blend it to a paste. Add the paste to a large bowl and add in the onion, green chilli, coriander, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, jeera powder, pepper, chaat masala & elaichi powder. Mix well & shape into round tikkis.
Heat a pan and add some ghee to it and place your tikkis to cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side till golden brown. Pour in more ghee on top, serve hot with green chutney and dig in.!
