Plant Profile: Dense Blazing Star - Liatris spicata

Описание к видео Plant Profile: Dense Blazing Star - Liatris spicata

Dense Blazing Star (Liatris spicata) is a tall, upright, clump-forming, low maintenance perennial that attracts bees and butterflies when it blooms in mid summer. It grows 2-4 feet tall x 1.5-2 feet wide. Plant in full sun. It tolerates a wide variety of soils and will take to the heavy clay of North Texas just fine. It has no serious insect or disease problems, but taller plants will need staking or other support. I recommend a tomato cage to keep the plant upright and looking its best all season long. Expect blooms in late June or early July in Collin County, Texas. A herbaceous perennial, it will die back in winter and reemerge in April.
