Is the Sunset Tavern even still around?

So yeah, after the first song I say something about having broken the neck off the guitar (a Dean Z Select) I'm playing. It's completely true. We played a place called Hells Kitchen in Tacoma the night before. I snapped an A string mid song but kept singing. I casually stepped on my tuner to silence the signal to my amplifier (which is something I do just by force of habit to squash feedback and/or crackles and buzz from cables, it's a habit that I wish more performers would adopt actually)…..but anyhow, I pull my cable out, undo the strap locks, while still singing, and send the guitar flying off to my left about 20 feet in the air into the equipment loading area which was about 50 feet away. I continued singing as if nothing was going on but I got to watch the horrified expressions on the faces of people in front of me. Some looked shocked, some just laughed or visibly shamed me, a few just looked confused as if I was attempting some new extreme arpeggio ("Extreme" like hot nachos) and they missed the part where I gave a detailed TED talk about how a new guitar style based on Chuck Berry's criminal report played chromatically. No matter what anybody was thinking, all of them followed the flight path of my guitar like they were watching the worst first serve in the slowest ping-pong tournament ever. Everyone was in slo-mo and let out a collective "ahhhhhh" as my guitar hit the ground. Without even looking at it I knew the neck had cracked. I'll deal with it later, and I grabbed my backup guitar to finished the set.

There is a reason I carry wood glue and at least 4 C-clamps when I'm on tour, it's because every so often something will break a guitar, often it's because I'm going a bit looney while on tour and I do something stupid, though sometimes its a really an accident. I started carrying wood glue and clamps after being on tour with Pansy Division, and in Canada the neck on my Gibson SG literally pulled off the body of the guitar. I then realized that the neck of that guitar is glued to a part of the body that is only about 1/4 inch thick, like WTF!!??. Thankfully the break was super clean and I was able to re-set it easily. I continued to play that guitar for many many years and with more glue fixes. I finally destroyed that SG when I launched it at the gigantic disco ball on stage when we opened for the Village People in Houston. I slung it as hard as I could and hit it, and that mirror ball was probably 75ft up. It bobbled around, causing a few mirrored shards to rain down, as well as giving some poor stage manager a heart attack and a look of murderous intent. The guitar bounced fast off the disco ball and came crashing down on the head of the drummer, Luis, who was thankfully laughing as hard as I was and then he grabbed the guitar and flung it at me by the strap which was like "whoa!" ….so maybe Luis thought it was funny but I guess he also wanted revenge ….fair enough.

The video, oh yeah, that. It was taken by a Canadian guy I met because we were set up to do a scene in a porno movie together. It was supposed to be a three-way which also included his boyfriend. Thankfully the whole porno thing didn't actually happen, not because of the sex part because I'd totally use his cock for a snorkel, but because I just wasn't ready for the fast a glamorous life that comes with staring in a low budget, direct-to-web-video, gay fetish flick. Who doesn't want Caverject scars and a signature dildo!

So, thank you IAN, my Canadian snorkel, for filming this. I was given this video on a dvd-r which I promptly lost and somehow it recently showed up in a box of misc stuff that I was going through. I'm glad too, because this was a good show even though the sound is mostly garbage.
