Yes, in my opinion the Echo Show 5 is worth it because you get so many additional features with the Echo Show 5 vs the Echo Dot which makes it an exceptional value. Both the Echo Show 5 and Echo Dot allow you to use Alexa voice commands to play music, check the weather and ask Alexa questions.

However with the Echo Show 5 you get a touch screen and built in camera that allow you to use Alexa to watch videos, hold video chats and use your Alexa device as a camera to check in on your home.

There is also additional functionality unlocked for standard Alexa commands with the Echo Show 5. For instance when you are playing music the Echo Show 5 will display the lyrics so you can follow along. When you ask the weather forecast or add it as a card Alexa will visually display the forecast and extended forecast for your area.
