Three gorgeous 1930s GIBSON acoustics (with dead strings)

Описание к видео Three gorgeous 1930s GIBSON acoustics (with dead strings)

Early 20th century Gibson acoustics with dead strings? I know many players have found timbral nirvana with the combination of a guitar that is around 100 years old and uncoated strings that were last changed during the Reagan administration. This is, however, not an approach I have ever really understood.

I do love learning though, and I was very glad to get an invitation to visit a dear friend of mine who has a beautiful collection of vintage instruments - among them were three instruments from the 1930s which gave me a chance to explore some extremely woody and evocation textures.
A 1931 L-00 in factory black finish, a 1933 L-00 in sunburst and a 1932 L-1 in cremona sunburst!

As you will see It took me a little while to get the hang of these guitars but in the process I learned a huge amount and came a lot closer to appreciating the magic of early 20th Century Gibson acoustics - it will be fascinating to see how close the new Murphy Lab instruments are able to come to the real thing!
