Описание к видео The Role of the Boule (gatekeepers) in the African-American Community

The Boule consists of members of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity. It was founded in 1904 as a way for professional Black men to network as white business organizations weren't open to them. The Boule consisted of businessmen, politicians, government officials, educators, and medical professionals. Though the organization doesn't have collegiate chapters, they have a congenial relationship with members of Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Alpha Phi Alpha, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta. This organization boasts members such as, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Dr. W.E.B. DuBois, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Ralph Bunche, Douglas Wilder, Congressman John Lewis and many other very successful Black American men.
This video discusses the Boule and tells what it does and the impact has on the African American community. And though there are Black people that are critical of the organization and view them as a menace to the community, this video explains who they are and the importance of their presence in the African American community.
