On July 3, 2025, a massive electric transformer explosion near AIIMS Trauma Centre ignited a terrifying blaze, with thick smoke engulfing the area. The AIIMS fire, reported at 3:34 PM, prompted a rapid response from Delhi Fire Services, who deployed eight fire engines to extinguish the flames by 3:55 PM. Miraculously, no injuries were reported, but the close proximity of two 33,000-volt transformers and a doctors’ hostel just 5 meters away raised fears of a catastrophic disaster. Was it a short circuit or something more sinister?
