Hi, everyone, Bruce here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna take a look at and install our Truxedo tonneau cover on our 2024 Ram 3500. Let's go ahead and take a look at some of the features of this tonneau cover. (tailgate clicking) Go ahead and open up the gate. It's got a latch on both sides, so we're gonna unlock the one on the driver's side and come over to the passenger side, pop that in your pick up, (cover clattering) and we can start rolling it up. It's easy to go ahead and roll this up.
If you notice, it has hook and loop on both sides. That's what actually attaches it to the rails. We continue to roll this up. (hook-and-loop fastener scratching) Once you do have it rolled all the way up, it does have some straps with a hook and that just comes over and attaches to the loop here. Now, you're gonna have one on the other side as well, and you're able to go ahead and drive with it in the up position.
Like I said before, with this rolled up, you can drive with it here. And with it being a soft tonneau cover, it does not take up as much room when you do have it rolled up on the back so it's not blocking your rear-view window or anything like that. When you're ready to go ahead and cover your gear back up, come back over, undo the latches here, (latch clattering) and all you gotta do is unroll it. Once we get back to the back part, we'll show you how it latches down. Now that we have it all the way rolled back to the tailgate, we just need to put it in its groove here, and it has a nice little locking feature here.
That's how you unlatch it. (latch clattering) You'll have one of those on both sides. But to latch this, the only downside I do see, which isn't really a downside 'cause I've got one that is actually similar to this when you pull it down, to lock it and you make sure both latches are locked. You can go ahead and close your tailgate, and then we can come over to the side and cinch these down. This does have the hook-and-loop fastening, so all we need to do is just come by, put it on there, run our palm down.
If you need to stretch it out a little bit, just run your palm down the side and make sure you do the other side. Now, these do have preset latching capabilities, which will keep your tonneau cover tight in any weather conditions. The preset tension control also keeps your cover nice and tight when you do latch it down, so there's no extra steps you've gotta do to actually tighten up the cover. (cover clattering) You'll snap it down, and if you notice, if we look at the actual cover itself, see how loose it is. When we snap it down, it automatically sets the tension to the correct tension that you need. The rails that sit on here will sit up about an inch and a half off your bed rails here, but not a big deal. Also, if you're looking at any type of ladder rack connection or anything, you're not gonna be able to do that with this particular cover. But if that's not a big deal for you, this will be a great option. Now, let's go ahead and get into the installation. Installation of it is fairly simple. You got six clamps that basically clamp it onto your bed rails, but if you don't feel comfortable in doing that, check out our Dealer Locator on etrailer.com. But if you wanna go ahead and tackle this yourself, stick around, I'll show you how. To begin our installation, we have laid out all of our parts. We've got our cover, both our side rails, our clamps, our seals, and you're gonna need a half-inch socket or wrench and a pair of scissors or a utility knife. Our first step in the installation process is we do have to grab our bulkhead seal. Now, we do have a spray-in bed liner, so we're taking the bulkhead seal and actually putting it on top of our cover here. If you don't have a spray-in bed liner or you've got a drop-in bed liner, you're gonna wanna put this on the actual bulkhead of the bed of the truck. We're gonna take this and just put it right on top of the other seal that's here. You are gonna want to be about a 1/2-inch from the edge on both sides. That will give you plenty of room 'cause it's not gonna hang off 'cause this is actually designed to fit between the bed rails and the back of the bulkhead. Grab both of our rails, and we're gonna grab the circle-looking seals here. We're gonna peel one of these off and we're just gonna line it up right on
