Protecting Banana Trees During Winter

In this video I am discussing how to protect banana trees during the winter season. There are a lot of ways to overwinter banana trees and shelter them when it is cold out, but I'm only going over a few simple methods. The banana trees in this video are Musa basjoo, the japanese fiber banana. There are a lot of "cold hardy" banana trees that everything in this video would apply to. Protecting bananas in the ground really isn't very difficult even though there are some intense degrees people will go to protect their pseudostems from the cold. As long as the corm underground is sheltered, the plant should be just be fine and return when warm weather shows up the following spring.
