I recently came across a YouTube video by that declared that 'Britain's Roughest Estate' lies within the West Midlands town of Walsall. According to the video, the Blakenhall Heath estate is highlighted as one of the most dangerous in the area. Apparently this is a place where knife-wielding youths run riot and a police no-go area. One particular road, Dawson Street is referenced as akin to 'war-torn Ukraine'. According to the video description, "The national media has recently described Dawson Steet and the surrounding area as Britain’s roughest estate, where knife-wielding yobs run wild among other things, and the local media feel the same, calling it a hell hole."

Why does this interest me so much? Although I have now moved away from the area, my family hails from this neck of the woods. I very much have Walsall blood flowing through my veins. Indeed my grandparents lived most of their lives only a stones throw from the notorious Blakenhall Heath estate. I am well aware that this is a rough area, but I have travelled all around the UK making these videos and I was sceptical that this was indeed "Britain's Roughest Estate". I had to visit and find out for myself... Is it REALLY that bad?
