This is how NetCrunch licensing works:

First of all, NetCrunch licensing depends on the number of nodes that you want to monitor:

A node is a device with an IP address, but it can also be a virtual machine, a URL, or a cloud service.

We don’t limit the number of parameters, logs, traps, or services delivered on each node. You can always monitor the full scope of performance.

However, using per node licensing in NetCrunch that monitors only switches and routers might not give you sufficient data. You may need additional information about traffic, port connections, and how everything works together.

This information is necessary to create network topology maps, which are essential for having full insights into overall performance of your network.

In this case, you may need additional interface licenses. They are not expensive; in fact, they’re just 10 cents per interface per month. By default, only UP Active Interfaces are monitored, but you can filter it if necessary.

These additional interfaces give you the full scope of how your network is serving the traffic and how your switches and routers are performing.

Additionally, when monitoring complex networks, you may consider setting up fault tolerance.

Unlike other solutions, we don't burden you with manually setting up complex clusters or multiple servers that duplicate monitoring traffic.

NetCrunch is designed to support the technologies that you already have in your network - out of the box. In this case, these are VMware Fault Tolerance and Microsoft Failover Clustering.

With NetCrunch, there’s no need for additional setup or configuration. You can use these services easily in combination with our solution.
