No your chronograph isn't broken

Have you ever looked at your automatic chronograph and noticed that the elapsed hour hand should be pointing directly at an hour index mark, but it is slightly off? Often this causes concern. Is something wrong with my movement? Why is it off by what looks like minutes? Does the movement need to be serviced? Is it defective? What should I do? All of those thoughts are normal to have when you notice this variance. Not to worry though, it is normal, and very common. The hour counter on most mechanical chronographs runs directly off the main barrel as a brake is disengaged. It doesn't run in sequence as a result of movement from the minute counter. A little variance is not cause for alarm. Next time you use your chronograph, take a look at the alignment of your elapsed hours at the hour mark. You'll see what I mean. My only concerns when buying a mechanical chronograph is 1) Does everything reset properly to zero? 2) Is the general accuracy within spec? That's it. If you are going to be bothered by some variance in the hour counter. You should be a quartz chrono, or a mechanical one that doesn't have an hour counter.
