With no ski lifts to get us part of the way there it was an early start. A 6 am ski tour for 1300m followed by a 250 m boot pack. We needed crampons and an ice axe to get us to the top of the couloir. I was definitely less afraid skiing down than climbing up which is why the go pro footage of the climb is looking straight at the face in front of me, even with an ice axe and boot crampons I didn't much like to look around at the time!

The ascent took six hours in total, then it was a case of waiting for the best time to ski down. We set off from the top off the couloir at 1pm and skied a mix of spring snow and slushy avalanche debris from 3500m to Tignes les Boisses at 1800m above sea level. The legs were shot after the ascent and snow conditions were not ideal but still the ski descent was amazing, great views of Tignes and Val d'Isere, some nice spring snow on the couloir exit and the beer back the resort was well deserved!
