Toad the Wet Sprocket's show at the Libbey Bowl in Ojai, CA on August 31st, 2023 marked the continuation of relationships that date back more than 30 years. The opening act in Ojai, Primitive Radio Gods, is best known for their #1 Adult Alternative hit "Standing Outside a Broken Phone Booth with Money in My Hand." Before taking the name of the Primitive Radio Gods, however, they were known as the I-Rails and based in southern California. Toad and the I-Rails often crossed paths and even occasionally played shows together. That was the case on September 4th, 1990 at Charlie's in Ventura, CA as both bands played sets alongside another local band, The Mudheads. The encore for Toad's show that evening featured a performance of the rare song "P.S." What made the version played that night even more unique was that members of the Mudheads joined Toad for the performance with Bill Coffey providing the vocals.
