Hi guys, John here with realtruck.com. Today I'm going to show you how to install the Spyder projection headlights on a 2004 new body style F-150. Now that we've got these lights out of the box, get a good look at them, you can see they come with everything you need to install these pretty much. So the first order of business to get these into this truck, is to get these factory ones out. So let's get those out of there.
Just take a big, long pry bar or screwdriver and get down there and get right up against the back of the light, and you can pop that clip out of there. It's basically this clip right here is the one that we're looking at. It just goes up into the body of the vehicle there. Unplugging the wires from lights, which we'll do right now. Now this turn signal one, we're just going to pull it out because we need to reinstall this whole piece into our new light, so we'll just leave it together. And there you have it. That's how easy it is to get the old ones out. So, we'll get the one out on the other side and then we'll start getting these new ones in.
The first thing we want to do is to plug these in. Now, this is really a simple, simple deal here. They just plug right into these connectors. So it's just a matter of snapping those in. Heat shrink wrap, and what we're going to do with that is slide it up over the connectors. Then you can either use a heat gun or a lighter, something along that lines to shrink that. What it does, it's just going to hold these connectors together so they don't inadvertently pull apart. First, we're going to attach these two together. You guys can probably hear in the background the thunder going on. This is a great rainy day, thunderstorm kind of project when you can't be outside on the lake fishing or something like that. Here we are in the nice dry garage making our truck look cool.
The next thing is to wire these to our inverter, which is pretty simple. Just keep with the colors. I know there's no white on this inverter, but the white goes to the red, the black to the black. So, we're going to wire that up now. Peel this backing off of our double-sided foam sticky tape and attach this right here to the back of the light. Now, something you guys might want to do before you go attaching this thing someplace is to fit it in the truck to make sure that it's still going to fit, the light's going to go in when you attach it. We've got our wiring all done, so the next thing we want to do is to take this over and test it to make sure everything turns on like it's supposed to. Bulb out of our old headlight and we're going to put it in here.
Now that we've got our meter set and turned on, we know that this one is the parking light on this particular truck. We just have to figure out which one of the two wires here is our positive and negative wire. On this one it should be this brownish colored wire, but we're going to double check that to make sure. And we have 12 volts on that so that is correct. That is our positive wire, so we know which wires to wire into our light assembly. Grab our meter and we have to find on our truck which wire actually works our parking light because that's where we're going to wire our inverter into the parking light. So that way when we turn on our parking lights, then our halos and our LED's will light up. Put our wire in here.
We've got this light all back in the truck, all bolted down, so the next thing is to get the one into the other side. We'll get that done and then we'll take a look at what this thing looks like with these new headlights in here. I can tell you guys already just by looking at this one, this truck looks way better. Let's get that side done so we can see the whole effect. We've got both sides of our lights in, so the only thing left to do now is to close this hood up and turn these one and take a look at what this truck looks like with these new headlights in it. Okay guys, that's how easy it is to install the Spyder projector headlights into your truck. So there's only one thing left to do at this point and that's take this out, show it off around town. So until next time, happy motoring. 866-554-0581 Free shipping for orders over $100!
