Drawing with Sticks and Ink - Part 2 of 2

Описание к видео Drawing with Sticks and Ink - Part 2 of 2

Welcome to Draw Tip Tuesday: Using Sticks and Twigs for Expressive Ink Drawings!

This is the second instalment of a two-part series.
Let's revisit last week's exercise and explore the possibilities of using sticks and twigs again. Remember, anything made of wood that can be dipped in ink can be your drawing tool!

In this video, I will demonstrate the same techniques from last week while incorporating the lessons learned. Let's use expressive lines, mark making, and black ink, look for contrast, texture, and liveliness. I am adding people in my drawing to bring in some storytelling aspect of my drawing.

Just like last week, you'll need to let go of control. Twigs are flexible and they bend as they touch the paper, so they can create unexpected and intriguing lines.
Bamboo pens and sticks have blunt tips, making it challenging to control the line. You may even discover a favorite stick for mark making or bold, expressive lines!

By adding darker background elements surrounding the focal point in the foreground, you'll notice how it pops forward— if you don't add too much detail.

Your assignment for this week:
-Grab a stick or two (and preferrably more!) and create a drawing, using a different perspective or reference photo—this time incorporating a human element (like a person!).
-Let go of control and expectations. Embrace the wonkiness. Let the material surprise you.
-Have fun!
