Sometimes, I want a story that is emotional. I want stories that explore the trauma a character endures and must recover from.

In this three issue story, Robin and Batman, we learn about the earliest years of Dick Grayson under Batman. As expected, Bruce was terribly harsh to Dick and we see how he copes with the hardships of this relationship. Some parts of this story are straight up disturbing.

This is a short story, so I’m not going to spoil anything. You’ll notice that the artwork is with water color, which made it feel to me like I was sitting though a memory. It’s sets a somber and dark mood that fits the tone of the writing well.

I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it to any Dick Grayson fans.
