Let's Read Nintendo Power #21 - My First Issue Ever | Friday Night Arcade

Let's Read my first issue of Nintendo Power from all the way back in February 1991 on this edition of Friday Night Arcade. The issue features Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game, Magician and StarTropics is the cover story -- all on the NES. This is also one of the issues that previewed SimCity on the NES despite the fact that the NES release ended up getting cancelled.

I wanted to do something different this week and pay tribute to my first issue ever of Nintendo Power. As a kid growing up in the 90s, this was THE only way to know what games were coming out. Get the Power, Nintendo Power! Even if you didn't have the games, it was fun just reading about them and seeing the screenshots. This first issue is still implanted in my memory for ever -- reading all about Turtles II and particularly StarTropics. I ended up buying StarTropics based on this feature as well as the commercial. I also specifically remember reading about Magician on the NES and thinking it looked really cool. I reviewed that game last year and ended up being disappointed with it though ... after 28 years of build up. I do also apologize that my camera is not the greatest. I did my best to clean up the image as good as I could but this is as good as it gets from a camera that's nearly 10 years old.
