Maavu vilakku preparation (மாவு விளக்கு செய்முறை) is a tradition of lighting ghee lamp followed in South India during the Tamil month of Aadi and Puratasi. In the month of aadi it is a custom to perform Maavilakku poojai for the Ambal deity and during puratasi it is done for Lord Srinivasa. The ingredients are the same for both the poojas.
