Master the Deceptive Fighting Techniques of the Spanish Navaja | Cold Steel Espada

Описание к видео Master the Deceptive Fighting Techniques of the Spanish Navaja | Cold Steel Espada

The Cold Steel Large Espada is the ultimate in modern Spanish fighting Navajas. In this episode, we will be exploring the deceptive features of the Loriegq Methodology of the Navaja, specifically in the use of the Plumada and Reves techniques, as part of a deceptive tactical ruse of the Large Espada.

The popular adage “a knife is meant to be felt, not to be seen” runs counter to the Navaja’s proud bearing and design (historically with a loud ratchet lock that announced itself while the blade was being opened), where presentation is part of a broader deceptive strategy to localize the opponent’s attention onto the knife itself. In this sense, the knife draws the attention away from the Baratero’s other tools, namely striking and capturing techniques, as part of the larger context of street fighting with a knife.

In this video we examine modified grips, optimal biomechanics, and street fighting traditions to implement the Navaja’s unique deceptive capabilities. I hope you enjoy this video!
