The Griffith's Gnat. It is meant to represent a cluster of Gnat flies sitting on top of calm or non moving waters. It can also be used to represent a single adult midge too. It was created in 1959 in Michigan by George Griffith, and a friend.
If you are trying to catch a trout or catch any fish this year, the Griffith's Gnat might be what you want to use to catch one. Fish can't resist the urge to try to eat a bunch of flies all at once. This fly is a classic pattern used by professional anglers and great for beginners too. On some rivers, it might be the ONLY fly a trout will take in the summer time
