How To Replace Front Sprocket Honda CT 110 Trail Sub Transmission

Описание к видео How To Replace Front Sprocket Honda CT 110 Trail Sub Transmission

A detailed step by step look at how to change the front sprocket on a Honda CT 110 with a sub transmission. When you do this job, thoroughly clean all gasket surfaces, use new gaskets, oil seals & oil/assembly grease. This old engine was assembled purely as a demonstration. It will soon be removed from the frame for rebuild & I didn't wish to waste new gaskets etc. Install the splined thrust washer with the sharp edge facing out. These vintage Hondas use JIS fasteners & in the video I explain how to easily recognise a JIS bolt. The engine didn't have a final drive chain, you'll need to slacken the chain to remove the sprocket & replace the chain on the sprocket before putting the cover on. Anyone who has fitted a new chain to a CT 110 with a sub transmission knows how difficult it is to do with the side cover in place. The manual states the splined washer be fitted with the sharp edge facing out, but the washer in my engine seemed not to have a distinct sharp edge.
Honda made subtle changes over the years & the internals will vary slightly. It's impossible for one video to cover all variants. Later bikes had two bushings (or top hats) A & B fitted either side of the sprocket. This bike has an earlier version with the bush already pressed into the sprocket. Some bikes have thrust washers on each end of the idler gear, some don't. If in doubt check the appropriate manual.
