Follow along as Nick and I backpack along the North Country Trail along Lake Superior in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

We parked at the Log Slide parking area and hiked a little over 2 miles to the Au Sable East Campground for the night. After setting up, we took a stroll for another half mile to the Au Sable Lighthouse.

The Log Slide Overlook stands 175 feet above Lake Superior near the Grand Sable Dunes. Early logging companies would send the logs 300 feet down the log slide sand dune into Lake Superior.

In this video, we will capture this section of the North Country Trail and review the Au Sable East Campground.
