How to protect your mutual fund portfolio in a falling market?

One could look at mid cap mutual funds and small cap mutual funds if they have a longer time horizon of over 5 years. Balanced Advantage Funds and Multi Asset Allocation Funds are a good approach when stock markets are volatile. One must never stop their SIPs in equity mutual funds during volatile stock markets. One could stop their SIP if the equity mutual fund is underperforming because of poor fund management especially if the fund management team has changed. One should not try to time their SIP in equity mutual funds, basically avoid trying to start-stop SIPs based on stock market movements.
