용서는 벌써 상대가 잘못을 했다는 전제가 들어가기에 사실 용서 자체가 필요 없다고 말씀하신 부분이 저는 머리로는 이해가 되면서 항상 제 일상 중에서 기회가 된다면 스님께 꼭 여쭙고 싶다는 마음이 있었습니다. 시리아 같은 전쟁으로 고통받는 무고한 사람들이 살생과 폭력을 행사하는 이들에게 용서가 아닌 어떤 마음을 가지고 있어야 하나? 또 우리 일상에 언어와 행위로 폭력을 쓰는 이들을 용서하지 말고 이해와 사랑으로 되받아 치는 게 좀 어렵습니다."

Question: In your Dharma talks you said that forgiveness implies that the other person is at fault, but there is actually nothing to forgive. I could understand what you said, but I wanted to ask you, If not forgiveness, what kind of mindset should innocent people, who are suffering in wars like in Syria, have toward those who kill and commit violence?
