AP Television is adhering to Iranian law that stipulates all media are banned from providing BBC Persian or VOA Persian any coverage from Iran, and under this law if any media violate this ban the Iranian authorities can immediately shut down that organisation in Tehran.

Currently we see performances in Iran which are both an imitation of Western theatre as well as Iran''s traditional theatre. I do not see any problem with that."

LEAD IN:
Western and Iranian culture have come together as part of an arts festival to mark the 1979 Islamic revolution.
The tradition of theatre in Iran is centuries old, but increasingly the Fajr festival, now in its 28th year, is striving to combine modern European influences while at the same time preserving its own distinct styles of performance art.
