Forging a Square Buckle

In this video I show how to forge a square buckle for a 1 inch strap. I go through all the steps to make the outside section, size it to 1 inch, I show how to forge weld it together and how to make the pin. There are several special tools that I use to make the buckle. The main tool is the 1 inch square bar mandrel. This was just made from mild steel tapered on one end. The second special tool is the half round punch that I use to make the notch for the pin. Other than those 2 easy to make tools I just use standard equipment every blacksmith would have.
