Spring is arriving in Northern Norway.
The snow is melting, the light is returning, and winter is fading.
We’re starting new projects around our home and barn on Andøya.
Swapping winter tires, sealing barn walls, clearing soil and branches—
every task brings us closer to our dream.
We cleaned out the basement and burned what couldn’t be used.
It felt like a fresh start.
With warmer days, we took trips to town, the beach, and the library.
We saw the first lambs of the season—
a beautiful sign of new life.
We also joined the island’s beach cleanup ahead of Norway’s National Day.
And finally, a milestone—our first day at 16°C.
Winter is truly behind us.
To end, my new single Northern Wind is now out—
completing the EP. I’m so excited to share it with you.

Red Leaf Hill is the musical project of Carmijn, a Northern Norway-based artist, songwriter, and filmmaker. Originally from the Netherlands, Carmijn moved to the North in the spring of 2022, seeking a deeper connection to nature and the inspiration it brings. Nestled between steep mountains and deep fjords, life in the Norwegian wilderness has inspired her to write new music, bringing fresh sounds that reflect the beauty and rawness of the Nordic landscapes.

“As an artist, I’ve always dreamed of living in the heart of nature. For me, nature is magical—it heals, it frees, and it brings a sense of peace. Surrounded by steep mountains, endless ocean, and the icy Northern winds, I feel a deep sense of freedom. The ice-cold waters, the midnight sun, the stillness, the wilderness, and the wide Northern skies—these are the things that inspire me every day. The Northern lights, the fresh air, the untouched wilderness—they shape my music and my spirit. When I close my eyes, words and melodies come to me naturally."

With a passion for both music and filmmaking, Carmijn shares her life in the Norwegian wilderness through her YouTube channel, documenting the challenges and inspiring experiences of living close to nature. Her music blends ambient pop/folk with cinematic elements, capturing the essence of the wild places that shape her.

Red Leaf Hill’s upcoming EP, set for release in 2025, is a reflection of this two-year journey, combining storytelling with a soundscape that mirrors the beauty of the Nordic wilderness.
